I don't think I've ever blogged about how close knit our neighborhood is, but suffice it to say, we are all great friends, and our kids are all best pals. We've gone on ski trips together, had countless bonfires and parties, and been there for each other in good times and bad...and a bad time is upon us all today.
My dear friend Carrie lost her husband, Brad to a massive coronary sometime in the wee hours of this morning. He didn't stand a chance, it happened that quickly.
A few words about Brad -- he was a stand up guy...a 'guy's guy'. At 44 years old he was the chief of surgery at the hospital up the road, and a very well respected surgeon at that. More than a remarkable doctor though, Brad was a devoted and wonderful father to his three little girls. He was a good friend, and quite simply, a down to earth, all around nice guy.
44....what a shame. Three gorgeous girls have lost their father today. My friend is a widow at age 41. So, not to be dramatic or droll, I just don't know how much cooking is going to be getting done around here for the next little while and wanted to let you all know.
Everyone go hug your kiddos, life is short.

Leah,
I'm so sorry for the loss that your neighbor has suffered. Only 44...what a tragedy. I will keep the family and especially the children in my thoughts and prayers. The older I get, the younger the numbers seem. Does that make sense? Take care of yourself and your family, and I know you will be caring for your friends. Thinking of you...
Leah, I'm so, so sorry to hear about your dear friend's husband. Thanks for the perspective and I'll be hoping for peace and love to surround your friend and her family.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's loss. We all understand if you won't be blogging or cooking during this time. Take all the time you need to care for your friend and you and your family. We'll be here when you are ready to start cooking again.
Leah, my deepest sympathies...God rest his soul.
Oh, Leah, what a tragedy! God be with his family and all of the close ones through this difficult time.
My heart goes out to his family and all of his loved ones. Life is so precious and too short.
My sympathies, Aggie

That's terrible news, Leah, and he was so young. It makes you realise that every day is precious. Take good care.

Leah,
My sympathy...that is so sad. I can relate as we had something very similar with my next door neighbor and another neighbor whom was in a tragic accident. I hope faith, family and friends can get your friend and her daughters through this terrible time.
Leah- how absolutely awful. I've been away and am just popping in to read your blog. I'm so sorry for your/their loss. Hope all are doing as well as can be right now. It sure is a good reminder that life is too short.
